Garage Door Locks Vancouver

Vancouver · BC
Weak side-door lock.New deadbolt in.Keyed to your house.

The garage is the softest entry point on most Vancouver homes. We install and rekey garage door locks on-site — T-handle deadbolts, side-door (man-door) locks, slide locks, and smart entries — all keyed to work with the key you already carry.

► 01 / The service

Lock the garage properly.

A garage that's easy to get into is a house that's easy to get into — the interior man-door often has no deadbolt at all, and a spring-latch overhead door can be lifted or shimmed in seconds. We harden every lock on the garage: the overhead door itself, the walk-in side door, and the connecting door into the house.

When you call us for garage door locks in Vancouver, a mobile technician arrives with the hardware on the truck — T-handle locks, deadbolts, slide bolts, and smart-lock kits — and fits the right solution to your door type in one visit. Overhead sectional doors, tilt-up single-panel doors, and detached-garage walk-in doors all lock differently, and we carry parts for each. If your garage entry key is different from your house key, we rekey the cylinders so a single key opens everything — no more juggling a ring at the door.

What's included

  • T-handle garage door locks — the classic keyed handle with a spring-latch or deadbolt cam for tilt-up and manual overhead doors
  • Side-door (man-door) deadbolts — grade-2 or grade-1 deadbolts fitted to the walk-in door of a detached or attached garage
  • Slide locks & cane bolts — inside barrel bolts and lockable slide latches that pin the overhead door to the track
  • Rekeying the garage entry door to match your house key, so one key runs the whole property
  • Securing the connecting man-door from garage to house with a proper deadbolt (often missing on newer builds)
  • Smart lock installation on garage walk-in doors — keypad or app entry, no key to lose in the yard
  • Lock replacement on a seized, worn, or broken garage cylinder — including snapped keys pulled from the plug

How it works

01

Tell us the door

Overhead tilt-up, sectional, or a detached-garage walk-in door? Snap a photo of the current handle or lock if you can. We match the right hardware and quote a firm range on the call.

02

We come to the garage

A mobile tech heads to your address anywhere across Vancouver. Everything happens in your driveway or lane — no dropping hardware off at a shop, no second trip.

03

Install, key alike, test

We fit the lock, cut keys, and where you want it, rekey the new cylinder to match your existing house key. Then we test the latch, the throw, and the strike before we leave.

The garage man-door is the door burglars actually use

On Vancouver homes — especially the lane-access garages in Kitsilano, the detached garages behind the character houses of Mount Pleasant, and the newer laneway builds through Dunbar and Kerrisdale — the walk-in side door is frequently the weakest lock on the property. It's out of sight from the street, often fitted with only a knob latch, and it leads straight into the garage where tools, bikes, and a second door to the house are waiting. Adding a proper deadbolt to that man-door, and a deadbolt on the connecting door into the house, closes the gap that most break-ins exploit.

We also handle the overhead door itself. Manual tilt-up and older sectional doors take a keyed T-handle or an inside slide lock that pins the door to its track, so it can't be forced up or shimmed off the latch. For west-side properties with detached garages — Point Grey, Dunbar, and Kerrisdale — we key everything alike so you carry one key for the house, the garage side door, and the overhead handle. Fewer keys, one system, no weak link.

Do I need a locksmith, or can the garage-door company do it?

Garage-door companies are great for springs, cables, openers, and panels — the mechanical side of the overhead door. But locks, cylinders, keying, and man-door deadbolts are locksmith work. We carry the cylinders, cut and rekey on-site, and can key the garage to match a key you already own — something an opener installer usually can't do. If your issue is a broken spring or a dead opener motor, that's the door company; if it's a lock, a key, or making the whole property open with one key, that's us. Not sure which you need? Call and describe it — we'll point you the right way even if the answer isn't us.

FAQ

Can you put a lock on my garage side door?
Yes — the walk-in man-door is one of our most common garage jobs. We fit a grade-1 or grade-2 deadbolt to a wood, metal-clad, or solid-core side door, reinforce the strike plate, and cut keys on-site. Most side-door deadbolt installs are done in under an hour.
Can you rekey my garage door to match my house key?
In most cases, yes. If the garage cylinder and your house lock use the same keyway, we rekey the garage lock to your existing house key so one key opens both. If the keyways don't match, we can swap in a compatible cylinder and key it alike — we'll confirm on the phone once you tell us the brands.
My garage T-handle lock is stuck and won't turn — can you fix it?
Yes. A seized T-handle is usually a worn cylinder, a broken cam, or a bent latch rod. We can free it, rebuild it, or replace the whole T-handle with a fresh keyed unit and cut new keys. If a key snapped off in the plug, we extract it on-site.
What's the best lock for a detached garage?
For a detached garage, we pair a grade-1 deadbolt on the walk-in door with a lockable slide bolt or cane bolt on the overhead door. Solid strike reinforcement matters more than the lock brand — a strong lock in a weak jamb still fails. For remote-access convenience, a keypad smart lock on the man-door is a strong option.
Can you install a deadbolt on the door between my garage and the house?
Absolutely, and we recommend it. The garage-to-house connecting door is often the last barrier once someone is inside the garage, yet many are fitted with only a passage or privacy knob. A single-cylinder deadbolt there is one of the cheapest, highest-impact security upgrades on the property.
Do you install smart locks on garage walk-in doors?
Yes. We install keypad and app-controlled smart deadbolts on garage man-doors so you can get in without a key — handy when you're arriving with bikes, groceries, or muddy hands from a Kitsilano Beach paddle. We fit the lock, set up your codes, and show you how to add or revoke access.
